What do these 2 lines have in common?

using crystalreports 2008 i try to open a dbf file (DBASE IV)

What are the steps and which driver are you selecting in the Database wizard?

Thank you

Hi Ruben,

Microsoft and CR changed the way that driver works, it's ODBC based now. From the database wizard select Database file and then you can browse to your DBF file.

Thank you

Hi Don

i did what you told me and i receive the following errors:

"Fail to load database information"

"Unknown database connector error"

?

The dbf file is not corrupted because i can see it with other tools like DBF viewer 2000

Thank you

Hi Ruben,

I tested it using one of our old DBF sample files and it works for me. I also download your viewer and I see the same.

Is there another PC where it does work? Could be the version of MDAC you have installed.

Other than this all I can suggest is you purchase a support case and have a Rep work with you directly, you can send your sample DBF file for testing.

You can purchase a case from this link:

http://store.businessobjects.com/store/bobjamer/DisplayProductByTypePage&parentCategoryID=&categoryI...

Try creating an ODBC DSN to your DBF file and see if that works in CR.

Thanks again

Hi Ruben

I'm getting the same error with 3 DBF files.

Did you solve your problem?

Could you share the steps to connect the dbf files succesfully?

These are DBF free tables of VFP 9.0

Hi Ruben,

Just wondering how do you resolve this problem?

I am trying to open the dbf file with Crystal reports 2008 and I am getting exactly the same errors.

If it possible can you post the solution?

Thank you.

I received a notification of a reply from Don:

Ruben Carreon, You are watching the thread "crystalreports open dbf file error", which was updated on Jun 9, 2010 4:45:09 PM by Don Williams. Subject: Re: crystalreports open dbf file errorMessage: What do these 2 lines have in common? using crystalreports 2008 i try to open a dbf file (DBASE IV)creating a connection in ACCESS/Excel (DAO) What are the steps and which driver are you selecting in the Database wizard? Thank you Don

but i dont see the reply here in my thread, but anyway i will try to answer it

Steps to connect :

1) Open the Database Wizard

2) New Connection

3) Access/Excel(DAO)

4) Select the database file: D:\ADMINSAB\MGW10008.DBF

5) Select Type: i tried with dBase III, IV, 5.0

it opens the connection and gives me the list of dbf files (tables) that i have in that folder.

so far so good

when i try to select the table i want, inthis case MGW10008.DBF

i receive the error i mentioned:

error code: DAO error code: 0Xcca

Description: External table is not in the expected format.

Thank you Don for your help
