Shelf Life in Material

Hi All,

Is it necessary to have batch management activated for shelf life of materials. I want to have shelf life of materials without batch management.

Please suggest

shelf life without batch managment is meaningless.

without batch management you can only check at GR time whether the material has enough remaining shelf life.

But when you have the material in stock, you cannot know the shelf life as this info is only stored in the batch record.

if you received 10 with a shelf life expiration date of 15. january

and just consumed or sold 5 and you get a new receipt of 20, then you have one stock line of 25 without batch management . how can you then know and distiniguisch the stock regarding the shelf life?

if you need to manage your materials with shelf life in SAP, then it makes only sense with batch management

You can have Shelf life for material without and also with batch management..
