scrap in Confirmation

Dear All,

there are thre field at confirmation screen (CO11N)

1-Yield Poduced qty

2- Rework For rework but we have to set trigger point in rounting

3- Scrap

i am ok with first two fields but third one in confusing for me. why we enter scrap qty in this field and where this qty goes and is there any need of configuration to use this field.

Dear,

Scrap is the amount of material that does not meet the requirement and ultimatrely we need to discard it completely from the production execution. In general you can term it as waste material which does not have any value from the production point of view.

In SAP, during production order confirmation we need to maintain this field if required, because it helps us in calculation of actual costs for a production order if at all any unwanted and waste materials are come up during physical production. In most of the manufacturing it is the every day case.

We use movement type 551 to post the scrap goods movements. This will take out unwanted materials from required materials. As we will be conforming more materials if at all any scrap is generated, this extra amount can be seen as variance in production order.

The quantity entered here is not captured by the system instead system calculates extra amount of money which has gone by.

To my knowledge any extra configuraton is not required in the system for scrap manangement. Standard settings in SAP is enough.

This entry is nothing but the process loss. If you disply the confirmation you will get all the details. ( Cnf qty - scrap = actual cnf qty.) .In order information report you will get it .This field is for information pupose because it does update the inventory .Once you did the confiramtion , you have to perform 551 to bring this into invetory .A scarep can also be bi-product which can be captures in negetive bom item which trigger 531 in migo-101 after the confriamtion and update inventory potiong also .

Dear Shoiab,

The quantity entered in the scrap field in CO11N screen does not get updated in the inventory.

To receive back the scrap material use the movement type 551.This will update the stock with scarp quantity.

Hi

Scrap quantity is posted with 551 to Cost center and not accounted for Production Order. But, components are addtionally consumed due to scrap quantity and hence material costs increase because of this scrap for the order.
