MARC-NCOST - Do not Cost Field

We are splitting off a company from an existing company code. So materials that belong to the new company do not need to be part of the costing runs that are starting now for year end (April 30)

If we set "DoNot Cost" flag will production orders, service order etc still function as we finish this year?

We are hoping that will strictly not cost the materials in the costing runs

Any ideas about this?

thanks

Althea

Hi,

Do Not Cost

Controls whether a cost estimate or a procurement alternative can be created for a material.

Use

If you select this indicator, you cannot create any of the following for this material:

Material cost estimate (with or without quantity structure) Sales order cost estimate Procurement alternative

The material is excluded from selection and BOM explosion, so that no cost component split will be created by the costing process. If the material is included in another cost estimate as a component to be valuated, the valuation price is determined through the valuation variant if no cost estimate with the same key exists for the material.

Then this material cannot be costed, i.e. you cannot create a cost estimate for this material. If you try to start CK11N for this material you will receive an error message. In CK40N this material will be ignored in the selection and explosion step.

If this material is a BoM component with 'costing relevancy' = 'X' then it will not be costed, but only valuated with a price.

The easiest way without effects on logistics if to set the 'Do Not Cost' indicator in material master's costing view.

Then this material will be included in cost estimates and directly valuated with the price according to the valuation variant.

Only account assignment and price must be maintained correctly for this material.

If you do not want to see it at all in the cost estimates (and in order costing) then you have to reset the 'Costing relevancy' indicator of the corresponding BoM component.

Hi Althea

In my opinion that should be fine... Production orders wont be impacted by it..

Only the Cost estimates in CK11N and Sales order cost estimate is impacted by it.. Also, you wont be able to use this material to create a Proc Alt in CK91N...

Usage in production orders should not be an issue

Hi,

if you set the "do not cost" indicator a material is not costed. Already existing cost estimates are not affected.

Why don't you use a test client and check the functionality?
