Hey Masters,

Can you please guide me with the work centers in PM & PS.

Are both the work centers same?

If not what is the difference?

Can we use PM work centers in PS

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Work centers will be created for labors in PM. Those may be electricians, mechanics or technicians. For PS as well, work centers will be created with some labor categories.

Based on the activity & activity pricing, those work centers would be categorised. As these activity pricing will be done based on Activity & assigned Cost Center for the work center, it will advisable to go for seperate work centers.

In case, both PS labors & PM labors are paid same amount, then you can have single work center with activity pricing. Also HR can be integrated with Work center. If work center has been created for labor group, employee from HR can be assigned to work centers in turn same can be used in transactions under person responsible category.

Even work center category would be different for PM work center & PS work center. SO before going for the common work center, complete testing is required.

So its purely based on client convenience & requirement.

Regards,

Maheswaran.

Hi,

SAP define work center as An organizational unit that where and when an operation must be performed.

So both are related with activity to perform and capture the cost due to activity rate and hours that perform.

Both should have assignment to cost center since due to costing related.

Should be the same work center but with different category and Tcode.

PS use CNR1 create work center , PM use ir01.

But in PM there's something call Main work center for maintenance tasks.

Where by in Plant Maintenance (PM) , A work center that is in charge when a maintenance task is performed.

TQ.
