Hello everybody,
we implement ESS (Leave Request) in our company and everything works fine but one functionality is missing.
How can a manager create or activate a substitution? Or can only the systemadministrator create substitutions? And how?
I already tried to create a substitution over the Business Workplace but it didn't work.
So, how is it easily possible to create substitutions?
Hi Daniel,
Your approach is correct. Please check if the substitution is active in the period when the leave is requested. Also you need to check if the infotype 0105 subty-0001 is maintained for the substitute. Rest will be taken care by the application code.

Roy

Hi Guys,
I know this is an old thread but just to follow up as I am working on something similar.
Andy
Thank you very much for the clarification. Now we have upgraded to EHP6 from 5, so do you mean that once HCM_MSS_WDA_2 has been activated the launchpad will change?
I am sorry i am asking basic questions, no access to the correct sandbox with portals, otherwise i would do it there. I cant do this DEV as the activation is not reversible.
thanks,
Andy
Not it wont change the launchpad ie MSS one, but it ll include new fucntionality. That we need to verify. IN EHp6 although we didnt release much in terms of MSS http://help.sap.com/erp_hcm_ias_2012_01/helpdata/EN/37/878A840FF940B6B12382485E720BD7/frameset.htm

Dear Siddarth,
As per the PDF -- SAP Business Workflow ― Substitution Based on the Task Category, i created the substitution rule.
For that I created substitution rule for Manager1 and mentioned Manager2 as Nominee in the substitution rule.Here while searching Nominee Name all my ABAP UME Users are displaying.So that i can select anyone as my Nominee right? Even Manager can select his subordinate Employee(if employee having not having MSS access).
Here my requirement is to restrict Nominee Search while creation of substitution of rule only for MSS Users Group.
Is there any Standard procedure to get the Nominee details specific to MSS Users.
Thanks & Regards
Ganesh

[2] Substitute Profile
You can define one or more substitutes for working with the Business
Workplace. The authorizations of a substitute are determined by the
substitute profile which you assign to him/her when you set up the
substitution. A substitute profile comprises specific task classes.
Task classes describe individual tasks or standard tasks. This
assignment is made in the task definition. A user you have specified
can then log on as your substitute. "Your" work items are displayed to
the substitute in their Business Workplace with the restrictions
resulting from their substitute profile.
You can set the substitution profile via:
SPRO
=> IMG
=> Basis Components
=> Business Management
=> SAP Business Workflow
=> Basic Settings
=> Substitute Profile
=> Define Substitute Profile
or

Thank you Siddharth Rajora for your quick response.
I set up the substitution in the Business Workflow as it explain in the SAP help:
Defining a Substitute
1. In the Business Workplace, choose Settings ® Workflow settings ® Maintain substitute. This takes you to the Personal Substitute window.
2. To define a personal substitute, position the cursor on your user name and choose Create Substitute. To define a position-related substitute, choose Substitutes for Positions. A window is then displayed in which you can select your personal or position-related substitutes.
3. Select the substitute and then choose Continue. The Detail screen substitution dialog box is displayed.
4. Enter the validity period for the substitution.
5. To restrict the substitution to particular tasks, select the relevant substitute profile.
6. If you want to forward your work times to your substitute immediately, select Substitution Active. You can activate or deactivate the substitution at any point.
7. Save.
Now, the manager and substitution get an email (to approve the leave request) but only the manager has a item in his worklist and the worklist of the substitution in the portal is still empty. Why?
The substitution is active (green lights) and the substituted manager sees Inbox, Outbox and so on in the Business Workplace.
The substituted manager also accept the subsitution in the Business Workplace (Settings --> Workflow settings --> Adopt substitution). Does he accept it anywhere else?
