SAP EWM follow-up activity for returns delivery

Hi guys,

I have a question regarding returns processing, and especially about the follow-up action on ERP side.

My scenario: I create a returns order (VA01) and Outbound Delivery (VL01N) in ERP. In EWM, an Inbound Delivery Notification and Inbound Delivery are created. When I process the Inbound Delivery, I can enter an Inspection Result and follow-up action during the QIS-step. For example, if the goods are OK, the follow-up action is Putaway.

In EWM this works fine, the goods are sent to a putaway location with the correct status. However, when I check my qRFC monitor, I can see that a message for this delivery is stuck in the Inbound queue of my ERP-system. The following error message is displayed:

Default follow-up activity for returns delivery xxxx must not be initial. Cannot create inspection outcomes for RMA and delivery xxxx

It looks like I need to customize some follow-up action on ERP side, but I'm not sure how. Any ideas?

ERP Integration - General Settings -Set Control Parameters for ERP Version Control

Set value at Quality Inspection block:

Possible Usage Decisions - Internal Inspection Decsions and Stock transfer

Quality Confirmation for Returns - Do Not Communicate Inspection Results to ERP

Hi Arthur and Hann,

I am facing the same issue ( I have set up in EWM-QM for customer returns with inspection in EWM )

My error message in stuck up item in SMQ2 is

Default follow-up activity for returns delivery 0084000087 must not be initial

Cannot create inspection outcomes for RMA  and delivery 0084000087

Message no. /SPE/INSPRES036

Can you please help to resolve ?

There 2 return scenario's and they are:

Scenario 1 - Perform stock return when vendor delivery is accepted in EWM and returning a portion or all of the delivery to vendor.

Scenario 2 - Perform stock return when a PO is placed and entire delivery is refused.

Scenario 1

Create inbound delivery in ECC and distributed to EWM.

Create inbound delivery with reference to inbound notification from ECC to EWM.

Create warehouse task.

system print pick will be created automatically.

perform the physical picking.

verify the pick quantity.

Confirm the task.

verify the GR.

create return delivery.

Display the bin stock in EWM

verify the returns in ECC

Scenario 2

create the inbound delivery in ECC that is distributed as inbound notification in EWM delivery.

create inbound delivery with reference to inbound notification from ECC to EWM.

Reject the delivery.

Display the bin stock in EWM.
