Dear Gurus,
Could you please let me know the difference between Process order and Work Center and its relation.
I came to learn that both process order and work center contains set of processes to manufacture a product.
Where and when can we create a Process order and work center (Tcodes).
Do we maintain a process order in a work center?
Regards,
Sridhar.
Hi Sridar,
process order is used for Process industries it behaves same as Production order behaves in Discrete (production) industries. In process industry Resource is nothing but work center means, it is the place where actual manufacturing or process takes place.

Hi Sridhar
Transaction codes
Create Process Order.
COR1- Create With Material
CORO- Create Without Material
COR7- Create with a planned order
COR8 -Create with planned orders.
Create Workcenter
CR01-Create
CR02- Change
CR03- Display
Create Resource

Hi Sridhar
Process manufacturing forms an industry type where in the products which are manufactured cannot be easily assembled and dis-assembled. It is almost impossible to be reworked upon these products. You can say making chemicals, medicine, Towels, Paper, Steel etc.
Each product is manufactured in individually defined lots.
Process Industry usually has a changing sequence of Resources where the products are processed.
The order of resources is determined in Master recipe.
Semi-finished products and by products are placed in interim storage prior to further processing.
With process orders, control recipes are generated for further processing of process instruction sheets.
Confirmations for the various steps and orders document the work progress and can be used for fine control.
take Eg. of Ice cream industry.
In this Mixing, pasteuring ang homogenity,Brrel freezing, packging, and blast freezing processes takes place. For this individual process we create Resources and in in master recipe we define sequence of processes and and material to be used with respect to resource.
As it is set of sequence of contineous processes where ingredients are added at different levels.
and we only able to define the quantity at the end of complete process.
I hope u understand from this, if any query reply.

Hi Sridhar,
Please find the info against ur questions -
Could you please let me know the difference between Process order and Work Center and its relation.
Process Order has all the info that u require for a material to be produced - eg - the MAterials reqd to produce the FG (Called as Bill Of Material) the steps involved to produce the material (Called as recipe or Operations) the start and end date of the production, the Work center or resource which is nothing but the machines/ operators information (this contains their capacities and working hours which we call as shift). The Process Order can be created using COR1
Work center or resource is nothing but the machines used to produce the FG and also can be the operators who are required in the production prcocess. It consists of all the information related to the resource eg- the capacity of the machine, the calendar which it follows , the shifts details in which the machine or labour operates, the cost centers to which the costs will be booked, the formula and activities using and for which the costs are to be calculated etc. The resource is created using CRC1 T code
I came to learn that both process order and work center contains set of processes to manufacture a product.- Check the above details
Where and when can we create a Process order and work center (Tcodes). - Process Order - COR1. work center -CRC1
Do we maintain a process order in a work center? - The work center is maintained in the Process order, as Work center are the machines which are used to create the Material for which the Process Orders is created.

Hi Sridhar,
I would like to add some more points:
Work centre or resource is the master data and prodcess order or production order is the transaction.
Work centre is basically used to define the resources or the place where you perform the activities to complete the operations. These work centres are used in routings or resorces in receipies. And these routings or receipe are copied in the production / process order respectively and helps to capture the operation data and through this link the work centre data gets captured to orders.
Work centres are basically machines or labour. For which you can define the standard available capacity in the master data with shift intervals etc. And you can capture the actual hours of activities against each work centre for capacity evaluation.
Each work centre is linked to a cost centre and activity type to capture the costs and to calculate the costs incurred on each activity.
Hope this explanation helps.

Sharat

Dear Sridhar,
1.Process orders are generally referred as the work order in a process industry setup(PP-PI) similar
to a production order in a Discrete manufacturing scenario.
2.You can create process order using T.Codes COR1(with material) and CORO(without material) or
using COR7(single planned order) or COR8.
3.Work Center(called as resource in a PP-PI scenario) is one of the master data of PP Module, where
you use T.Code CRC1 to create resource/work center.Resource is used for performing various
actvities for producing a product or say different operations/activities are performed in a work
center/resource.You need to assign these workcenter(resource) in the master recipe(one more
master data of PP Module) of a material.
