How to have a Long mail title ? (in ECC 5.0 & SAP_BASIS 640 )

Hi Gurus,

We are in ECC 5.0, with SAP_BASIS & SAP_ABA pushed to 640 SP 22 .

Our problem is to extend, in the Workflow Builder  then on SAP connect,  the work item title to more than 50 characters.

We use copies of standard task which use this work item title to send mail, and we want to insert several parameters in it.

I have made some research on SCN and so on, but propositions are above or below our version
(ECC 5.0, with SAP_BASIS & SAP_ABA pushed to 640 SP 22 )

  That exactly my need but on SAP_BASIS7xx and not 640 => "Send Mail step using object SELFITEM and method SendTaskDescription."

(In note 1658491, the note speak of a new checkbox for long mail titles in transaction SWPA  => not present in my 640 system)

Hi Cyril,

At the risk of repeating anything (Eddie Morris's blog) have you looked at OSS Note 1523530?  We suffered the same restrictions, and this note fixed it.

Here is some info from the note:

Symptom

You use the extended notifications for SAP Business
Workflow to inform users about new work items.

You send notifications as e-mails. The title of the e-mail is truncated.

Other terms

Reason and Prerequisites

The extended notifications for SAP Business
Workflow previously supported e-mail titles with a length of up to 50 characters only. After 50 characters, the text was truncated.

This note increases the length restriction to 255 characters.

Solution

After you implement the corrections, the title of the e-mail is no  longer truncated after 50 characters. The restriction is increased to  255 characters. You cannot have more than 255 characters if the e-mails are sent using SAPoffice.

Hi Susan,

A BIG thanks for your answer, which have been implemented with success :

:    - I can now insert more than 50 character in my Work Item Text without warning and this text is completely integrated in body of email.

For future requester on this subject, please note than 2 SAPnotes  are answered as prerequisites in my system : 

-  992042 " Workflow notification: URL truncated in notification"

- 1058481 "WF Notif: Dialog text formatting disappears".

Due to our good SP package, these 2 notes need not to be implemented .
