Hi Soumya

Thanks for your very useful info.

I had quickly gone through the topics of the documentation and it covers mixed info of many modules like Production, Logistics, Retailing and others for the OIL & GAS industry solution.

That means the SAP IS-OIL consultant must have the knowledge of the all these modules before come into this IS-OIL. Is it right? Because, i am basically SD consultant and i thought this IS-OIL is extension of SD & MM module.

Anyway, please advice whether the SD consultant (like me) would be able to understand and learn this IS-OIL module on their own?

And software side, is it a separate installation from SAP R/3 ECC 6.0 version.

Please advice.

Thanks & Regards

Priyan

Hi ,

SD / MM knowledge is required to understand

the IS-OIL Down stream topics ..

IS-OIL solution is extension the core for the oil specific business ..

for example MAP pricing in oil uses the core pricing engine but have has different

pricing calculation like Formula and average pricing …

please tell me which module you are interested in ?

Thanks Oily

I am currently working mainly in SD module and having 3+ experience in SD and integration knowledge of other modules such as MM, PP, and FICO.

My plan is to start with other SAP modules like IS-OIL, SAP Retail or any other module which closely related to SD/MM Module.

I understand from replay that, SD / MM knowledge is required to understand the basis of IS-OIL module.

Hi Priyan,

IS-OIL -Downstream has mainly two areas and one is IS-OIL MM related and other IS-OIL SD related, although IS-OIL has their own components but those components are closely linked with MM and SD.

IS-OIL upstream has 4 different units.

IS-OIL -UPS -PRA (Production Revenue and Accouting)

IS-OIL UPS JVA ( Joint Venture accouting)

IS-OIL UPSRLM( Remote logistics Management)

IS-OIL UPS PSA(Production Sharing Accounting).

As you have mentioned that you have SD knowledge with you,I will suggest you to look for SRM in place of industry solution as that will have wide scope than IS-OIL.

IS-OIL PRA is only US specfic product and if you see whole SAP world ,there are smaller implementations for OIL solutions.

For more details.

Please look

I hope this helps.

Hi Nishant

Thanks A Lot for your response.

My idea is to get exposure in the new upcoming module in SAP. I have not decided which module to go for. I am collecting info about IS-OIL, Retail and all.

As you suggest in the SRM module, could you please send any help link in this regard.

I am planning to study on my own. No plans to attend the SAP courses for this study. Please advice. will it be OK to study the modules in this manner.

Hi Priyan,

SRM is no doubt a very good option. It is rated as hottest offering from SAP and you need to have MM knowledge to get into this area.

To start with SRM.

See the link below.

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_srm50/helpdata/en/8d/f6a93e08503614e10000000a114084/frameset.htm

There are some very good PPT download available on link.So download all the PPT and see if get all the information .

http://www.ies.state.pa.us/srm/cwp/view.asp?a=3&q=197102&srmNav=|

Spend some time with these material and see if you find them intresting.

I personally feel that you should enter into area where you feel excitement.

I started in SRM 6-7 months back and now I find them very intresting...

I hope ,this helps.

Hi Nishant

Thanks For your friendly advice.

Basically i am a SD person with exposure of MM and other related modules like FI and PP.

I would like to concentrate the high end module which is related to SD module.

I feel SRM is good for the experienced MM people.

Oily I am interested in learning about the pricing in IS-OIL. (Prcing routines, formulas, enhancements etc.)

I have 2 yr pricing and 5 yr SD experience. I am currently working on a project where IS-OIL bolt on is present.

I have been searching for documentation on this and no luck. Seems like pricing is a well hidden subject in SAP over all.

I would really appreciate any input from you.

Dear All,

I wanted to know the usage of F&A pricing in an IS-Oil Solution. I have read the documentation at help.sap.com but the explanation was not enough. Please tell me

1. In which scenario will we use F&A pricing?

2. What is the defination/usage of Factor1/Factor2?

I have done confirguration settings for F&A. If anyone have manual/documentation available, please do forward me on samiurrehman82atgmail.com

If anyone doesn't have manual/documentation please reply to my queation. It made easy for me to understand.

Thanks in advance.
