Using SUM without stack xml?

Former Member

I'm planning to upgrade a NetWeaver 7.0 to NetWeaver 7.31. Since MOPZ can't calculate the upgrade, I put all patches in download basket manually and downloaded them after approval in Solution Manager.

When choosing the option "Manually prepared director" (without stack xml) in SUM SPS 06, I get an error message:

Error: Cannot apply option Manually prepared directory; this scenario is not supported for

ABAP-only systems.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi,

Please check SAP note 1641062 which states as below:

Updating / patching single components for ABAP only systems is not supported.

So, you have to update the system by generating stack xml file only.

Thanks

Unfortunately, MOPZ doesn't offer an upgrade option for NetWeaver only ABAP systems (e. g. BW).

This comes as surprise to me. Due you have any document which says "MOPZ doesn't offer an upgrade option for NetWeaver only ABAP systems"

Thanks

MOPZ doesn't offer upgrades for NetWeaver only ABAP systems, in the past I already encountered this problem. I didn't had problems yet with SAPehpi, but with SUM. But I guess I have to use MOPZ simulation mode to create a XML file: https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1450757

Hi,

Its not true. Please check upgrade master guide which gives you procedure to configure MOPZ.

The Solution Manager didn't had stack 23 yet, so after upgrading the system I could calculate the upgrade.

Hello Daniel,

You must configure MOPZ in your system and later use MOPZ to generate the stack xml for

your support package stack update. This must be used in SUM.
