Former Member

Hi,

I have extracted .sar files of SUMSP08. I now did a run of the batch file startup.bat. But when I clicked on the link to launch the SUM GUI, it pops up then it just disappear.

Attached are the screenshots. The GUI home startup page appears then it just disappear and I can't proceed.

How do I resolve this?

Thank you!

Regards,

AJ

Hi,

1. Run STARTUP

2. Set DISPLAY variable

3. Run DSUGui

Hi,

This may be the issue with your local browser.

Try to oepn with Chrome browser.

If you still face error then, reinstall JAVA in your local desktop.(I assume that you are opening SUM GUI from local desktop)

Hello Almira,

You can try to launch SUM by starting SUM process and then separate SUM GUI and binding the GUi with SUM process, as while using the browser to connect to SUM sometimes gives issues due to incompatible java libraries between SUM and browser.

Assuming you are running SUM on Windows, as I see from startup.bat

1) Start SUM process i.e. Run startup.bat from sidadm user

2) Start SUM GUI i.e. Run SUM/sdt/exe/DSUGui from sidadm user (this will start the GUI)

3) Then you should be able to connect by entering the target localhost as you have started the GUI on same machine where SUM Process is running

Hi Almira,

Please type java -version in command prompt and check which version it's showing. In your screen shot, it's showing that JRE 7 is being used, but in actual JDK is required rather than JRE. So, just check which java version is is really used (as per java -version ) and uninstall JRE 7 .

After doing this step, turn off your firewall and antivirus. Once you set everything, login into your system with <SID>ADM user and start SUM tool.

Please let me know in case any concern.

Hi,

Try accessing your host(Dagger) via the IP address instead of using the hostname.

It could be a DNS issue.

Hi,

Go to folder SUM/sdt/exe

1. Launch SL controller. using DSUService.bat

2. Lauch DSUGui.bat to access GUI of tool.

hi Almira,

Check for space in /tmp directory and clear any unwanted files.

Also kill the existing SUM process and try again.

Thanks,

Hi Almira,

I am facing the same issue.

My <sid>adm user is a local user for

Just want to know how did you log in using <sid>adm user in OS.

I am using company domain user as admin of the server.

And <SID>ADM user is local within the domain of SAP Server.

That's where I am not able to figure out how to log in via <SID>ADM user.

Your response will be appreciated.

Thanks and Regards,

Hi Jansi,

Yes <sid>adm is included in the administrators group.

I can't find the folder log in sum/abap.

My version of IE is 8. is there any compatibility issues? Or is there any thing I need to include in the security in internet options of IE? I have included the site in trusted sites.

Should I also declare any environment variable?

Thank you!

Hi,

I guess you are missing some thing then, the log folder should be there. better uncar the zip f SUM and try again, follow the guide pagenumber 96.

https://websmp104.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700000783582011E

check the ports are free, if that also didnt help, start the GUI from command prompt and try. you can get the procedure in the above document.

For env variable, yes, you need to check, whether you have setup properly JAVA_HOME.

Thanks

Jansi
