Hello Bhasin,

I have few questions ans steps for you.

1. Are you able to login into any other BO client tool?

2. Do you have multiple Network Cards [NICs] on BO Server box?

If YES, we need to prioritize it as below. Once donw bind primary IP with CMS. as mentioned below.

Change Network Binding Order:

Click Start, click Network, click Network and Sharing Center, and then click Change Adapter Settings.

  • Press the ALT key, click Advanced, and then click Advanced Settings. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
  • Click the Adapters and Bindings tab, and then, under Connections, click the connection you want to modify.
  • Under Bindings for <connection name>, select the protocol that you want to move up or down in the list, click the up or down arrow button, and then click OK.

Bind Primary IP with CMS:

  • Log onto Central Management Console (CMC).
  • Open Central Management Server (CMS) properties page, under

Good Luck

Hi Mahesh,

I did the fix you mentioned and I encountered an error after trying to restart the CMS.

An error dialog appeared with the following message:

All the servers with CMS <Server Name>:<port>, cluster @<Server Name>:<port>, kind which host service null, are down or disabled.

We have tried restarting the SIA and managing its services through the CCM, but the system won't let us.

Hello Bhasin,

Ping tells us just a reachability of destination; however telnet gives clear idea on specific port is listening or not.

While loggin we need to make sure port # 6400 is open on firewall. It seems that telnet service is not installed on you machine. Please get in touch with your local IT service team and get it installed.

Syntax: telnet <BO Server IP or Hostname> 6400

I am sure this will gives us a direction to troubleshoot the issue.

No Bhasin, There shouldn't be any problem with using VPN.

Only we need to make sure that required ports needs to be open on the firewall in bi-directional mode.

I have few more questions:

1. Are you able to login to Webi rich Client on BO server box? [If client tools are installed, please try]

2. Are you able to login to Webi Rich Client outside of VPN?

3. What it return whe you run telnet <BO Server IP> <6400>
[If telnet is not installed, please get it installed and perform the test ]

4. Also check if there any antivirus program is running on you machine. For the testing purpose, disable it and give a try.

Apart from this,

  • In the CMC, edit the properties of the CMS and specify a port
    for the "Request port" setting.
  • Make sure that the ports you've assigned above with "request port" and
"port" are opened in the firewall for bi-directional communication between the
    client and BI servers.

Please let us know output of above tests.

Mahesh

To install Telnet Client on Windows 7:

  1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  2. On the Control Panel Home page, click Programs.
  3. In the Programs and Features section, click Turn Windows features on or off.
  4. If the User Account Control dialog box appears, confirm that the action it displays is what you want, and then click Continue.
  5. In the Windows Features list, select Telnet Client, and then click OK.

Go to Central Management Console. At the home page select servers --> look for Central Management Server (CMS), you can double click to get the CMS properties.

Hi,

First of all, you need to put the host name and port number  in hosts file.

Then try with the host name, if this is not working try to verify that all required ports are opened from the firewall.

Hope this can help you.

Best regards,

Saloua.

1) BO server and clinet needs to be in the same version of BO ( same patch)

2) use the FQDN name of the BO server in the system name and use the CMS PORT

3) Update BO server details in the clinet system host file.

4) Make sure that all the required ports are opened in the BO server to avoid the communication issue.

Hi JRK Prasad,

Sorry for the information.

Server and client are on the Same Patch Level(Bobj 4.1 SP1 Build 14.1.1.1036).

Hi Bhasin..

1. Make an entry of IP Address for BO Server on client PC in Host File.

2. Check if you are able to telnet this IP from client PC

172.19.0.109:6400

6400 is the default CMS port, change it accordingly if other.

3. Check for Firewall on BO server and Client, disable it.

Thanks-

Try for Telnet at times this does not work and ping works. Other than this make an entry in the Host file with the following format:

Default Location for Host File: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

Entry Should look like this: 172.19.0.109    HOSTNAME     FQDN

separated by "Tab"

Note: Do not put any extension to the host file while save and make a back for this file before you change.

See CMC is a web application, your application server will come in between. So may be you have ports open to App server and not to BO.

Do you have your Application server and BO on same Machine??

So just wanted you to check if can telnet your CMS Server

For the system during login, put use the convention ipaddress: CMS assigned port (usually 6400)

Try to login. Hope that works.
