We are upgrading users to Windows 8 and we are running into issues installing Sybase Central on the OS. Is there a version of Sybase Central that is certified? I also understand that development on Sybase Central has been discontinued, is there a replacement client for this software. Our users have mainly used this tool to view objects, run queries and create stored procedures.
Extract the .zip folder and go to client folder which you want to use and find setup.exe.
Open command prompt in that folder, Run the command as below
setup.exe -i GUI LAX_VM "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\<Your Java Version>\bin\java.exe"
It also works to install Download Manager on Windows 2012 and Windows 8

Havent tried this on Windows 8 or above but have tried in Windows 7 .
You personalize your windows theme to windows classic option and then run the setup .
Let me know if it works
Cheers,
Mayuresh

Hi Courtney,
Looks like PCClient 15.7 ESD#4 was certified on Windows 8.
http://certification.sybase.com/ucr/platformDetail.do?certId=3603&platformId=133&productId=2
I would download the last PC Client:
Downloads:
Service Marketplace-
https://websmp206.sap-ag.de/~SAPIDP/002006825000000234912001E
PC Client-
Sap Support Portal > Software Downloads (top grey tab) > A-Z index: Installatio and Upgrades > A > SAP Adapativer Server Enterprise > Sybase ASE 15.7 > installation >
Sybase ASE 15.7 Refresh PC-Client
The migration is to Sybase Control Center.
This handles monitoring of servers and can handle tasks as Sybase Central did.
I've only used Sybase Central for basic functionality and it seemed to carry over.
I don't have a SCC installed currently to test what you are looking for but hopefully someone else who uses this can help verify.
Also, Sybase Control center is a html client that is hosted on a bigger box rather than a client on every machine.
Regards,
Ryan

Hi Ryan,
I downloaded the version as per your instruction and we are still having issues installing the client. I don't know how important this additional information is but we are using Windows 8.1. During the install it aborts with the following error.
Invocation of this Java Application has caused an InvocationTargetException. Thi
s application will now exit. (LAX)

Courtney,
Looking at the infobase, it looks like this is the error given for older releases trying to install.
What version are you using?
I thought this was above ESD#4.
Note says another customer used:
PCCLIENT1570100_0-20011197.ZIP
EBF 21162: 15.7 SP100 - PC Client
This can be searched for in the download center you were already at.
There is a search for downloads on the right bar.
I do not have a Windows 8 machine to test this.
Apologies for the previous step not working.
Hopefully this will help.
Regards,
Ryan
