SDS Shipping - Blocking

Dear Experts,

Is it possible to block SDS shipping to "specific sold-to customers " on a "material code"

may be

1) as a standard

2) Via custom code

Hello Ravi,

Please read customization  document under Product Safety-

Specify Condition Schemas for Report Generation Variant 

under these nodes you can specify your customer and Gen Verient whom you want to send the document or whom you do not want to send the document. These are  condition table which help to configure requirement like yours in different scenarios such as Customer, Material, Gen Variant , Country etc combinations. In normal condition it should be ship to party this could be same as Sold to Party.

Thanks for quick revert.

I can see below table there but after maintaining the data here, how system will understand whether it should be Blocked or Allowed.

In other words, in order to BLOCK what additional setting to be done?

Dear Ravi

the customizing is not dedicated to "block" something, this is to foind the "right" generation variant.

Currently by standard you can "switch" off the distrbution only on REAL_SUB level (but then for all materials and all customers).

But you could try do it like this: insert an "email" address on customer level and the email address is pointing to you. So you get the MSDS but not the customer (clearly a workaround but might be an option)

PS: in the customizing acitiviy shown above there is an "Extension fielD"; as we do not use it: I believe you can enter a function module there (not sure) and may be then you get the "Block"

Why do you need the block? Never heard about such a demand before

Hello Ravi,

These condition table has priority sequence if you mention a dummy data in Condition table 1 you can stop MSDS to dispatch for specific customer and sales org combination but again please check with Regulatory group as this may be very much required to send MSDS if product is Environmental relevant.

As CB stated above you can mention  dummy Email which always goes to email box which is not for customer another solution, also can develop customer exit which read the data from Customer master and determine the dispatch of MSDS.

Few Point to Consider -

If Certain Material do not require MSDS regardless of Customer than Use SAP Standard approach

If Certain Sales org of Customers do not require MSDS than use SAP Standard approach.

What is the business driver ??
