Which NetWeaver will EhP8 be? Is it mandatory to convert to Unicode for EhP8?

Hi Daniel,

Unicode will be mandatory for the next release. This can be read in the report attached by you.

It doesn't matter if it is an EHP of SAP ERP 6.0 or a separate, completely new release.

If it is EHP8 (SAP_APPL 618) then it will be a higher release than SAP_BASIS 7.40 and therefore it is mandatory to convert to Unicode.

Hi Daniel,

please have a look at SAP note 1322715 - point 6.

There you can see that SAP ERP 6.0 EhP8 is based on NW 7.50 and it will be supported with Unicode only (for all supported Databases). In addition it is NOT planned to provide a combined solution (CU&UC) for doing an upgrade and a Unicode conversion for SAP ERP EhP8 as target release.

I am sure EHP 8 (If there will be one) will be based on a higher Netweaver version and according to the SAP note 2033243 - End of non-Unicode Support: Release Details non-Unicode SAP systems above SAP NetWeaver 7.40 are no longer supported.
