Publication dynamic list

Hi,

we are on BOXI 3.1 SP3, sql server 2008 DB. Have a publication that uses dynamic list from a webi report. This works fine when the "Deliver objects to each user" is checked, however it is failed when the same is unchecked. We do not want to deliver the report to each user seperately as the users have the same personlization values and should get one publication.

In the Publications guide for XI 3.1, for the Email delivery destination notes it states:

• Before you use this destination, ensure that your email settings are configured

properly on the Destination Job Server.

• If you are sending publications to recipients via email, ensure the placeholder

%SI_EMAIL_ADDRESS% is in the To field and Deliver objects

to each user is selected.

So I don't think that clearing this option is compatible with Email delivery.

Hi Neil,

Below information is also available in the document and I would like to acheive the same.

Deliver objects to each user is selected by default for all destinations.  However, in some cases, you may not want to deliver objects to each

user. For example, three recipients have identical personalization values and thus receive the same data in their publication instances. If you clear Deliver objects to each user , one publication instance is generated and delivered to all three recipients.

As explained in the document, I am uncheking the Deliver Objects to Each user to send one email for all the recipients, but the publication is failed for unknown reason.

Indeed, and this information is not contradictory...by stating that you have to have this option checked for email delivery, it is implied that unchecking Deliver Objects to Each User is intended to work for other delivery methods, e.g Enterprise Inbox. This should be fairly easy for you to test.

If you want to spend even more time trying to get this to work then feel free, but I think the documentation is quite clear. If it really matters that much that you generate a single instance per user then consider an alternative delivery mechanism.

You might want to provide some more information. What format are you sending the publication in? How are you delivering - Email / Enterprise?

Also, why is your attachment zipped? My company firewall prevents me from downloading archives. If the error.txt isn't a large file, why is it zipped?

Check your mailing/smtp configuration.

From error message, it is eveident that email in to list is not proper.

Can you try passing the actual email id just for 1 user and see if it is delivered.

Publication is successful when "Deliver objects to each user" option is checked with the same configuration and giving the error when it is unchecked, and I have tested the same by providing the email IDs, still no sucess.

When it is Check witj the option "Deliver objects to each user", is the publication sedning output to users email?

Also see the following configuration is made on job server

1. Log into the CMC

2. Go to the 'Servers' page

3. Right-click on the Adaptive Job Server and select 'Destination'

4. Click on the 'Email' destination

5. Ensure that the domain name, host and port (=25) have been filled in

Hi Jagadish,

When the option is checked, publication is sending the emails with attachments to all the users with the same configurations successfully.

We have done the SMTP configuration in the BO services already.
