Hi All,

We are going to implement Vehicle Management,Parts and Warranty for a customer and require SAP Automotive dealer portal as front end.

I am new to Dealer Portal so have few questions:

1. What are the considerations before deciding whether to go for Entprise Portal and NWBC to use as dealer portal?

2. If we are going for EP, do we need to install Business packages available for Vehicle, Parts and Warranty on NW EP?

3. How does this business package relevant if we are going for NWBC scenario?

4. Which versions of EP(NW stack)/NWBC to be considered in the respective scenario?

Any other inputs/documents from Dealer Portal perspectiv will be helpful which we need to consider while implementing this project.

Thanks in advance!

Regards

Priyanka

Hi

EP or NWBC which are browser based front end applications, works as presentation servers to access the features of dealer portal application. Your core dealer portal application will be in ERP only. To use dealer portal, you need to activate the business packages irrespective of front end applications. Check sap help portal for IS-A-DP for further details.

By assigning the standard roles, you can access dealer portal functionalities through desktop browser. Same URL, can be configured in NWBC and access it.

If you want to customize the presentation then enterprise portal is an option.

Thanks

Hi Priyanka,

In my opinion following are the possible answers of your Questions:

1. What are the considerations before deciding whether to go for Entprise Portal and NWBC to use as dealer portal?

If you want to use Vehicle management system, Parts & Warranty Management you need to activate the IS Automotive component "ECC-DIMP", "IS-A", AUTO_DP_1  / AUTO_DP_2 using the switch framework as it includes dealer portal functionality

2. If we are going for EP, do we need to install Business packages available for Vehicle, Parts and Warranty on NW EP?

This application can be used either on NWBC or SAP Netweaver business client (w/o NWBC)

Refer implementation considerations on the below link

Automotive Dealer Portal (IS-A-DP) - SAP Library

Implementation Considerations as mentioned is as follows:

The Web-based user interface of the dealer portal is technically based on the SAP NetWeaver Business Client for HTML, the SAP NetWeaver Business Client as a desktop-based integration platform, or on the SAP NetWeaver Portal.

Also mentioned here:

Dealer Portal, NWBC, Integration of Variant Configuration - Business Functions (SAP Enhancement Pack...

3. How does this business package relevant if we are going for NWBC scenario?

Business Packages are relevant as they provided integrated feature of using SAP ECC along with vehicle sales, parts sales & Warranty processes.

4. Which versions of EP(NW stack)/NWBC to be considered in the respective scenario?

You just need to assign following authorizations to the users it should work

SAP_COCKPIT_DPVMS and SAP_COCKPIT_DPSPP.

Following SAP Components should be installed:

Software Component

ECC-DIMP 605

SAP_APPL 605

EA-APPL 605
