Hi,

I have configured SAP GUI for HTML pages on to the Portal.

For testing I am using IE8, in which SAP GUI for HTML renders different from original, input field is not surrounded with border line.

While trying to select input field for entering input, screen stops with the below javascript error.

Invalid Argument

http://<host>:<port>/sap/public/icmandir/its/lsgui/js/communication.js?28

I have set the  ie=EmulateIE8 in the SICF too, but no success.

Please let me know, if there is any settings needs to enabled to make it work.

Hello Ravi,

Dan provided you with the correct answer. A kernel upgrade is required (you are using patch level 28 - the correction is available as of patch level 214).

If you have further questions about ITS/WEBGUI (SAPGUI for HTML), you can also visit the SCN ITS Community.

Ravi,

Check out SAP Note 2198116 - WebGUI javascript error in IE8.

Trying to start SAP GUI for HTML in IE8 shows only the initial page. No further interaction is then possible. In javascript console error message "function expected" is displayed.

The SAP GUI for HTML for transaction looks ok on default framework provided. However, on checking with Ajax Framework theme, it behaves differently on different browsers.

Hi Ravi,

Check the Compatibility Settings. Make sure your Domain Name is allowed.

Hope this helps.
