Dear experts,

We have a serious and recurrent problem on SAP HANA SP9 revesion 91. The statisticsserver is down, and sap bw application server which is
connected to hana database loses often the connexion displaying the following dump :

" SAP DBTech JDBC: [3587]: invalid protocol or service shutdown during
distributed query execution: [2613] executor: communication problem
(com.sap.db.jdbc.exceptions.JDBCDriverException: SAP DBTech JDBC:
[3587]: invalid protocol or service shutdown during distributed query
execution: [2613] executor: communication problem)".

At the moment, under sap bw server, when we run the script "startsap
r3", it shows the following error :

"Checking db Database
Database is not available via R3trans
-------------------------------------------
Database db must be started first
"

please find in attachement the log files;

Thanks in advance for your help

Best Regards,

Hello Tarik ,

Could you check if there Out of Memory issue reported by statistic server ? - You will oom file in the trace folder.?

Additionally - you can migrate statistic server by following note " 1917938"

Thanks

SAP Note 2147247 provides several best practices and tips for the statistics server. It is recommended to use the embedded statistics server with Rev. 91. Starting with Rev. 93 an upgrade will automatically trigger a switch to ESS.

Hi,

What does the trace file (of HANA DB) says.
As best practice Embeded Statistics server is must from Rev94 onwords. Prior to that it is not mandatory for embedded. You need to thoroughly check the trace file and based on the error information we need to check.

Thanks & Regards,
