Install of SAP BI4 SP2 - Failed to listen on port(s)

Hi,

When carrying out a brand new install on a clean server I get the following error

Server cms_SERVER.CentralManagementServer

Name Service Port

Failed to listen on port(s): XX.XXX.XX.XXX:6411, SERVER:6411.

Any ideas what the problem may be? I have tried ports 6400 and 6411 and same error. So I dont think it has actually anything to do with the ports but something else?

Thanks,

Hi Leo,

Please share the below details to debug the issue:

  • Is it firewall environment? If yes then check the respective ports for SAP Business Objects applictaion is Open or not?
    • You can use below command to check status of listening port

Syntax in Windows:

netstat -aon |find /i "listening" |find "6400"

  • Check the status of Database application, it was up & running or not?
  • Please share envent viewer logs and SAP Business Objects Application logs (log path: \\Installation directory\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\logging)
    • For SAP Business objects application please share below file:
      • cms_<Node Name>.CentralManagementServer_trace.000002 (File Type is GLF)
