Hi All,
I am new to Project System module.
Please tell me the major difference between external activity and service activity with a suitable example.
I went through this thread "https://scn.sap.com/thread/1326524" but i didn't get any fair idea. All i know is external activity is activities related to vendors and service activities are using service management module.
Please clarify with a example if possible.
Regards,
shikha
Hi Shikha,
External Activity and Service Activity, both have the same significance and purpose.
In standard you can create service entry sheet for service activity, but you cannot do it for external activity. For Major projects they use Service Activity and Activity elements, by which they can segregate the services accordingly based on the vendor.
External Activity
External Processing - Structures - SAP Library
Service Activity
Services - Structures - SAP Library
The above link will clearly explains you about the process followed in both activities.
Regards
Terence

Hi Shikha,
Select the network and click on external Activity, there is service column
Case 1 :External Activity
1. If the service column is unchecked than the activity is external
2. You can assign only single service.
3. After creating the external PO, goes for GRN
4. If PR created than the account assignment Category "P"
Case 2 :Service Activity
1. If the service column is checked than the activity is Service activity
2. You can assign only multiple service.
3. After creating the Services PO, goes for Services entry sheet
4. If PR created than the account assignment Category "P" and Item category will be "S"
Thanks
