Cannot see Icons for Folders, Categories etc. for BO 4.1 SP06 on Linux

Hi,

I am experiencing an odd scenario with BusinessObjects 4.1 SP06 deployed on Linux environment.

While navigating through CMC/Launch Pad I am not able to see any icons for folders, categories, user groups .. etc. from the browser.

I can only view the hierarchy of the objects defined and everything works fine as expected except the missing icons.

I have attached two screen shots for folder and category display.

Any inputs to fix this issue will be really appreciated.

Thanks,

Vibhav

Hi Vibhav,

Here is the content of the note:

The issue happens if some plugins are not installed with the default installation;
however eventually it gets installed if we recreate the current CMS database.

Resolution

  1. Recreate the CMS database from CCM > Stop SIA > Open properties of SIA
    > Go to configuration tab > Click on Specify database and select Recreate
    database option.
  2. Re-deployed all .war files on application server.
  3. Launch CMC and now all the icons were visible fine.

Hi Manoubia,

I was able to re initialize the CMS DB on the Linux environment.

The next step was to redeploy all the war files, Is there is a easy way like in Windows environment where we just need to rename BOE folder in WebApps and Localhost and restart the tomcat and it gets deployed automatically

Unfortunately this does not work Linux environment and option that I can see is to use the WDeply tool which I am bit hesitant to use.

So if you know any other option to deploy the war file on Linux please share.

Thanks,

Vib

Hi Vaibhav,

You will need to use wdeploy.sh to redeploy WAR files on Tomcat in Linux. There is no wdeploy GUI too in Linux. You can try following steps to redeploy WAR files.

  1. Stop Tomcat.
  2. Delete BO application folders from Tomcat/work/catalina/localhost directory.
  3. Take a backup and delete all application folders from Tomcat/webapps folder.
  4. Go to wdeploy folder and run the command ./wdeploy.sh tomcat7 deployall
  5. The WAR files should be redeployed. Restart Tomcat and see if it works.

You can use another tomcat to confirm if this is an issue with web applications.

If load balancer is used, try by-passing it.

You can find default web applications here if you don't get them automatically after following Swapnil's comment:

Install Dir>\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\WARFILES

You can also use SAP note 1803147 - How to manually redeploy BI 4.0 WAR files in Tomcat 6.x

Hi Vibhav,

Is it the new installation? If not then stop the tomcat service and take the backup of the following folders.

1) TomcatInstallDIR\webapps\BOE

2) TomcatInstallDIR\work\catalina\localhost\BOE

After taking the backup of the above mentioned folders, delete these folders from the above directories and start the tomcat.
