System Copy in Unix

Former Member

Hi,

We are Restoring Backup of Production system to Quality Server.

SAP version is ECC 5.0. Database - Oracle 9.2.0.7.0. OS- HP Unix 5.1A

For that first of all we have installed UNIX Tru-64 on Quality Server.

Then after we have restored backup of production server on quality server.

Mounted file system on quality server.

Then applied OS patches similar to the patch level in Prod.

Then after created <SID>adm and ora<SID> users.

After all this, we tried to connect to database.

It is gettin connected, but we are unable to mount database.

<b>It is saying OS patched needs to be installed, whereas no patch is available in market now.</b>

Please do the needful to find cause of error.

Please suggest steps for copy in this manner.

Regards,

Payal Patel

Hi Friends,

Finally my problem is resolved after so much time...

It was due to one Unix patch, and SAP suggested that patch.

Thanks a lot for ur replies....

Instance terminated by PMON, pid = 1346

Please send us the logfile of : /oracle/PRD/saptrace/background/prd_pmon_1346.trc for further interogation....

Hello.

I understand the OS model are not the same in Production and in QA, is it correct??

In that case backup-restore is not posible, copy should be performed with R3load tool.

Fermín.

Hi,

We have verified backup twice.

This was our second attemp to restore.

We have confirmed with HP person that there is no problem at OS side.

We have tried setting kernel parameters with increased memory parameters, but that too could not help.

The note we refer for OS kernel parameter is 356370.

Did you find this issue related to Oracle?

Should we try with oracle installation?

Payal Patel

Hello,

Verify the backup is successfully done or not.

Only don't change the backup volume name it must be target system =

<SID>.

Copy the above aft file name line from the source back<SID>.log to =

target<SID>.log file.

then

I think it seems to OS issue..........!!

Check memory allocations also !!

Note: Points always encourage me to reply !!
