URGENT Professional Tax - Madhya Pradesh

Hi Gurus;

CAN ANY ONE HELP ME FOR MP PROFESSIONAL TAX SETTING

I am getting a problem in professional tax calculation for the state of madhya pradesh. It is based on the annual gross income divided into per month. The Slab is as

Rs 0 to 76000 no tax

Rs. 76001to 90000 Tax is Rs. 1000/- per annum and Rs. 83.33 per month

Rs. 90001to 150000 tax is Rs. 1500/- per annum and Rs. 125 per month

and above 150001 tax is Rs. 2500/- per annum and Rs. 208.33 per month.

If an Employee having a gross salary Rs12000/- in april then his annual gross will be Rs. 144000/- then his slab will of Rs. 1500 per annum.

But in the month of May he got the increment and his gross salary changed to 13000/-p.m. then his annual income will be 156000, so his p.t. slab will of rs. 2500/- per annum & Rs. 208.33 p.m.

Problem is when i am running a payroll for the month May, his PT calculated as Rs. 215 instead of Rs. 208.33/-.

How to solve this problem.

Waiting for reply, higly obliged.

Thanks in advance,

Sandeep

Hi Sandeep,

I believe the calculation of 215 is correct.

The calculation logic as below :-

The total Ptax for the year is 2500

The person had paid 125 during the month of April

Balance to be paid is 2375

Number of months to recover 2375 is 11 months

Monthly Ptax would be = 2375 / 11 = 215.90

Reward if this is helpful.
