Hi ,

How is safety stock planning done with CTM. We have set the safety days supply of 15 and the corresponding method in product master. But when we run CTM , it does not seem to consider the safety days supply of 15 , it always considers less number of days . Can anybody help please

Safety Stock in days of supply in CTM (time-phased or static) is treated as buffer time. Hence CTM ensures that there is this buffer time between material availability date and requirements date. This can only be verified in Pegging Overview using PPDS transactions such as Product View. So note that there is no "excess" supply created. Also note that there are checkboxes in CTM profile itself on Build Up Safety Stock that can rampup this SStk requirement.

Needless to say, I am hoping you have the basic setups done to do SStk Planning with CTM such as defining Key Figures in SPRO for doing SStk planning and ensuring you have copied the CTM planning book to view data. If not, please search for the term "Safety Stock Planning CTM" in this forum, and you should be able to find quite a few pointers in that direction.

Also do note that CTM does not violate demand, even if it has to dip into the safety stock. So I am hoping what you are seeing is not due to excess demand or supply constrained situation.

Hope that helps.
