We recently experience a similar problem. A user was not able to release a transport in our DEV system. The gateway trace file showed lots of these messages:

max no of gateways exceeded (100)

However, there were not very many logged on clients and only a few active connections. We solved the problem by doing a hard stop and restart of the gateway. SMGW --> Goto --> Expert Functions --> Hard Shutdown

Hi,

We've got the same problem: max no of gateways exceeded (100).

But i want t know if the parameter rdisp/max_gateways can be set from 100 to 200? Will this solve the problem or are there other parameters that are related to this problem?

I've read sapnotes 978078, 887909 and 894100 but they don't provide enough information. Neither does help.sap.com.

Can annyone be of assistance?

kind regards

Hi

My problem was related with the import buffers, there are 2 request generated during the applied notes and i have released the request but did not imported into the QAS & PRD Server.

Since, i have relased the reqeust my RFC Connection are failing and we are not ably to "TEST connection" in sm59, STMS are failing and system generating the "max no of gateways exceeded (100) messages.

I came out over the problem once, i cliked on "data file must be transferred" in STMS then i am able to test the connection and no messaging appearing in my sm21.

Thanks to all of you and participating and hep me. I have assigned the points to person before close the message.

Hi everyone,

We strugglled with this issue as well. All the notes in this thread had been previously implemented. We had all the parameters set to the suggested values from note 316877. Two weeks later "max no of gateways exceeded (100)" popped up again when we were in STMS.

This time we were reffered to Note 743888 - GW: gw/so_keepalive profile parameter

and it worked!!!

Hope this helps

HI

I was encountering different RFC problem chain.

1) max no of gateways exceeded (100)

2) RFC Communication Failure

3) Error detected when checking transport files

4) Buffer Faulty

there was lot of request released but not imported into the PRD Server, once i click on "Data files must be transferred" all reqeust has been copied from the dev to PRD.

The RFC problem chain has been over by did that one.

Thanks to all of you who shared experience with me.

Hi

Even i also face the same problem and for that we have applied the SAP Note

316877 - Maximum number of conversation exceeded

314530 - Number of RFC/CPIC connections for external clients

Do apply these note to solve your problem

Check SAP Note 978078 - Maximum number of gateways reached

Also read,

Note 887909 - Maximum number of gateway connections exceeded

Note 894100 - Maximum number of gateway clients exceeded

to temporarily resolve this issue you can go to smgw and

smgw -> goto -> logged clients check if it is more then 100.

sort the connections according to date/time and delete old connections.

also you have to check for remote logins

smgw -> goto -> remote gateways check if it more then 100.

sort the connections according to date/time and delete old connections.

to permanently resolve we need to add parameters specified by the above notes given by Juan.
