Resolution
1. Log into Central Management Console
2. Go to server,right click on Dashboard processing server and select properties
3. Change the idle connection time out to 60 minutes and Idle Job Timeout to 60 minutes
4. Also right click on Dashboard cache server and select properties
5. Change the idle connection time out to 60 minutes
6. Restart Dashboard Processing Server and Dashboard Cache Server

Please check the below NOTE:
1750505 - "Failed to connect to the BI platform" error when attempting to add a query in the Query Browser of the Dashboards application.
Resolution
1. Navigate to the Central Management Console (CMC)
2. Select Applications
3. Open the Web Service application properties
4. Correct the Access URL as follows:
5. http://<WebServer>:8080/dswsbobje
6. Click Save & Close
7. Navigate back to the Dashboards application
8. Attempt to add a query via the Query Browser
9. Notice the error no longer appears

We are also facing the same issue with IDT 4.0 and dashboards of 4.0 sp7. Our admin team is working on it. If it resolves, i will let you know. Or else it might be the limitation also.
