SAP Portal and BO integration

Hi All Im trying to get my head around some concepts relating to Poral and BOE 3.1 integration.

In my current system landscape, we have portal 7.01 integrated with BOE3.1, and the portal contains url iviews.

I was reading in the blog - http://scn.sap.com/community/bi-platform/businessobjects-bi-for-sap/blog/2010/04/08/sap-businessobje...

about how there is not much difference between url iviews and business objects template iview.

For whatever reasons, we have URL iviews which are plainly in the format -

http://<server>:<port>/CmcApp/logon.faces

My question is - what is the open doucment syntax? and how do i ensure that my URL iview is in this format?

Regards,

Karen A.

Hi,

Yes i have seen that document, but couldnt understand how this document fits in when i try to access BO content from the portal.

In Portal, the content is displayed in iviews - and there are different types of iviews.

URL iviews are one of them.

why do we have to ensure that the url iview is in the open document syntax?

Regards,

Karen A.

My question is a bit more deeper than just why

theres also a how to distinguish between what type of iviews are best suited in a situation?

Also, we do the BO integration with Portal and create system objects using the template.

Now, is BO and BI different?

Hi Karen

you need the OpenDoc iviews and the add the CUID in Business Object Proberties. Then you can directly add in the NW Portal, Webi, Crystal and Design Studio Reports.

Maybe this link is helping you.

Kind regards
